• How much does it cost to rent a shipping container in Toledo?

  Rentals start at $150 per month. The actual number depends on three things: the size of the unit, how long you need it, and whether we are delivering to your site or storing it at our yard. A 20-ft container on a short residential rental sits near the bottom of the range; a 53-ft high cube on a long commercial contract prices differently. • What is the difference between a shipping container and a storage trailer?

  A shipping container is a steel box that sits flat on the ground, so a forklift can drive straight up to the doors. A storage trailer is a wheeled dry van that sits at trailer-deck height and generally wants a dock or a ramp. Containers win when the load is heavy or you are using machinery to move it. Trailers win when you want more cubic feet for the money, need to relocate the unit frequently, or actually prefer elevated dock-height access. If you are not sure, describe how you will load it when you call and we will tell you which one is right — including when the answer is the cheaper option.

• What size shipping container do I need?

  Rough guide: a 20-ft container holds about a three-bedroom house worth of furniture, or the tools and materials for a single-trade job site. A 40-ft roughly doubles that and suits multi-trade sites or commercial overflow. A 40-ft high cube is the same footprint with an extra foot of interior height, which matters more often than people expect — racked storage and tall equipment both benefit. A 53-ft high cube is for manufacturer-scale overflow. When customers guess, they usually guess too big; tell us what is actually going inside and we will size it honestly.

• How much space do I need for delivery?

  As a rule of thumb, you need roughly the length of the container plus another 20 to 30 feet of straight approach for the truck to back in and tilt the unit off, plus about 12 feet of clear width and no low branches or power lines overhead. A 20-ft container needs somewhere around 50 to 60 feet of total clear run. If your site is tight, we will come do a free site walk before delivery day rather than sending a truck that has to turn around.

• What kind of surface can a container sit on?

  Level and firm is what matters. Concrete, asphalt, compacted gravel, and hard-packed dirt all work. Soft ground, fresh fill, and saturated soil are the problems — a loaded container is heavy enough to sink, and a container sitting on an uneven surface can rack the frame enough that the doors stop closing properly. We bring blocking to level minor slope. If your site is genuinely soft, tell us and we will talk about it before delivery.

• Do I need a permit for a shipping container in Toledo?

  It depends on the jurisdiction, the property, and how long it stays. Placement on an active permitted construction site is usually covered by the project permit. Longer-term placement, and anything on residential property, is where municipalities differ — the City of Toledo, Sylvania, Perrysburg, and the various townships all handle temporary structures under their own zoning rules. We deliver into all of them and can tell you what other customers in your situation have run into, but the permitting authority is your local zoning office, not us. Check before a long placement.

• Should I rent or buy a shipping container?

  The break-even is usually somewhere around 18 to 24 months of continuous use, depending on unit size and condition. Below that, renting is almost always cheaper and keeps you flexible. Above it, buying used off our yard typically wins — and you can resell it later, since containers hold value reasonably well. The other factor is certainty: if you do not know how long you will need it, rent, because month-to-month costs you nothing to walk away from. We sell as well as rent, so we have no reason to push you either direction.

• Are your containers wind and water tight?

  The ones we rent out, yes — we check them before they leave the yard. "Wind and water tight" is an industry grade meaning the unit will keep weather out, which is what almost everyone actually needs. It is not the same as "cargo worthy", which is a stricter certification required if the container is going back into international shipping. If you need a cargo-worthy or CSC-plated unit specifically, say so when you call, because that is a different conversation and a different price.

• Can you deliver a container to a residential driveway?

  Usually yes, most commonly a 20-ft unit. The constraints are approach width, overhead clearance, and whether your driveway surface will take the weight. Older Toledo neighbourhoods and mature tree canopy in places like Sylvania and Ottawa Hills make overhead clearance the most common blocker. We will do a free site walk if you want certainty before the truck is scheduled, and on residential deliveries we recommend it.

• How fast can you deliver a container in Metro Toledo?

  Same-week delivery is standard, and next-day is often possible for in-city Toledo, Maumee, Sylvania, and Oregon. We ask for 24 to 48 hours so the unit gets prepped and the route gets planned properly. If you have a genuine emergency — storm damage, a restoration job, a site that got shut down — call 419-745-9492 and we will tell you honestly what we can do rather than promising something we cannot hit.

• Do you deliver containers outside Toledo?

  Across Metro Toledo, Northwest Ohio, and Southeast Michigan — roughly a 30-mile radius from our yard at 721 Matzinger Rd., with regular runs further south to Findlay. That covers Maumee, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Oregon, Northwood, Rossford, Holland, Bowling Green, Findlay, and Monroe, Michigan. Crossing into Michigan carries no surcharge. If you are just outside the radius, call anyway — the radius is a default, not a hard limit.

• Can I modify a container I rent from you?

  Not a rental, generally — rental units go back into inventory and need to stay standard. But we fabricate custom container builds in-house on units you purchase: doors, windows, insulation, electrical, HVAC, partitions, and full lifestyle conversions.
